Illegal currency exchange operations: several individuals detained
Nowadays, illegal operations related to the trade of currency values have become one of the serious issues in society. As a result of an operation conducted by the Department's Bukhara regional office under the Prosecutor General's Office, such a violation was prevented. According to official reports, a citizen O.G., engaged in currency exchange activities, was caught red-handed with material evidence while buying 330,000 Russian rubles from citizen M.Sh. for 51.1 million soums.

Such law violations regarding currency exchange are recorded not only in Bukhara, but also in other regions of the republic. In particular, in Chimboy district, during a special operation conducted in cooperation with the Internal Affairs department, citizens A.B. and B.A. were detained with evidence while selling 4,000 US dollars to citizen M.X. for 50.4 million soums. Also, in the Amudarya district, citizen H.E. was detained while buying 3,600 US dollars for 44.85 million soums during the operation.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, criminal cases have been initiated for these cases under Article 177 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (illegal acquisition or transfer of currency values), and investigative actions are being carried out.

Responsible authorities emphasize the need to strengthen control and preventive measures to prevent such violations and call on the population to comply with the law. Currently, all citizens are required to choose official and legal means when conducting currency operations.

Internal affairs and law enforcement agencies have announced they will continue their sustained efforts to combat illegal currency exchange. Such cases are important for ensuring the rule of law and maintaining economic stability in society.

The final decision will be made after the completion of the investigation. The responsible authorities promise to take strict measures to prevent such illegal operations in the future.
