Another incident that has caught the public’s attention has been recorded in the Andijan region. The director of School No. 42 in the Markhamat district, who forced teachers to take part in repair work, has been dismissed from her position. She is now not only unemployed but also faces a large fine.
According to the Labor Inspection, the head of this educational institution, Z. Mamajonova, forced teachers to participate in repair work. On what basis, you may ask? Precisely through threats — saying, “If you don’t work, your teaching hours will be reduced.”
The inspection conducted a review on August 4 and, as a result, the former director was fined 41 million 200 thousand soms. This penalty was imposed in accordance with part 2 of Article 51 of the Administrative Liability Code. According to this article, forcing a pedagogical worker in an educational institution to perform compulsory labor is punishable by a fine of 100 to 150 times the base calculation amount.
Currently, the former school director no longer holds her position. Representatives of the department noted that, during a conversation with the school staff, it was claimed that the clean-up activity was carried out voluntarily. However, because the director failed to control the performance of duties properly, she was removed from her post.
The incident also caused widespread discussion on social media. Videos recorded on August 2 were circulated on August 3 and sparked strong public reaction.
Now a question arises: are school administrators focused on improving the quality of education, or are they busy forcing teachers to paint walls, wash floors, and clean windows?
In any case, a firm approach to situations that tarnish the reputation of teachers and deprive them of their labor rights is an important step toward ensuring transparency and fairness in the education system.
