200 grams of opium found under a train in Surkhandarya

In Surkhandarya region, a unique operation was carried out in cooperation between customs officers and border troops. During an inspection at the Airitom customs post, a narcotic substance weighing nearly 200 grams was discovered hidden in a hard-to-reach part of a freight train — under a wagon. This was reported by the press service of the State Customs Committee.

According to the information, during a scheduled customs inspection of a train arriving from a neighboring country, officers noticed a suspicious situation. A plastic package secretly placed under one of the wagons was detected.

Strong smell and alarming find

When the package was opened, inside was a substance with a distinctive strong smell and dark brown color. According to the relevant expert examination, this substance was confirmed to be an “opium”-type narcotic weighing 195 grams.

The inspection revealed that the attempt to place the drug in a hard-to-reach point under the train was intended to bypass customs and border control.

Criminal case initiated

On this fact, a criminal case has been initiated by the customs authorities. Currently, investigative measures are being carried out to determine the source of the substance, the individuals who placed it under the wagon, and the groups associated with them.

Experts note that such cases pose not only an economic risk but also a serious threat to public health and safety. Therefore, customs and border authorities are further strengthening control in this direction.
