In the city of Margilan, a court verdict was announced against a 55-year-old female driver who ran over a 2.5-year-old child playing between apartment buildings with her car. This was reported by Ruxsor TV channel.
The incident occurred on Zukhro Street. Abubakr Akramjonov, playing in the courtyard of an apartment building, was run over by a Gentra car driven by a resident of the same neighborhood. As a result, the child sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.
“If I had known — I would have stopped…”
In court, the driver explained that on that day she was heading to a close relative’s house, did not see the child on the way, and did not hear any sounds.
— “If I had known, of course, I would have stopped. For example, if you run over a dog, you also stop. I didn’t hear any crying. When I saw it on the camera, only then I realized it was me,” she said.
The woman also noted that she had obtained her driver’s license 5 years ago and had little driving experience.
Father: “My child is afraid of the street”
The child’s father told the court that his son’s condition had changed not only physically but also psychologically.
— “If you say something, he gets scared. If we take him outside and he sees a car, he asks to go back home. He used to always be outside playing, but now he doesn’t want to go out,” he said.
The father asked the court to take legal measures against the driver and to compensate both material and moral damages.
Court decision
The court found the driver guilty under Part 1 of Article 117 (“Leaving in danger”) and Part 1 of Article 266 (“Violation of traffic safety rules or use of transport vehicles”) of the Criminal Code.
She was sentenced to 2 years of restriction of liberty with a complete ban on leaving her home and was deprived of the right to drive all types of vehicles for the same period. She was also ordered to pay the child’s father 2 million 350 thousand soums in material damages and 25 million soums in moral damages.

According to the information, the accident occurred on May 10, 2025. Moving slowly between apartment buildings, the car ran over a child sitting on the roadside. The front wheel ran over the victim’s chest, and the rear wheel over the pelvic area. The driver, not hearing the child’s scream, calmly continued driving and left the scene.
