The name of Tashkent region judge Khayrullo Rahmonov has become the subject of wide discussions on social networks. The reason is videos spread on the internet. They claimed that the judge organized a lavish wedding for his underage child. The footage also showed the participation of well-known artists.
This situation sparked different opinions among the public: some accepted the news as true, while others reacted with doubt. On this matter, the Higher Council of Judges issued an official statement.
It was reported that the council conducted an internal investigation. During the review, it was determined that the house and the child shown in the video did not belong to the judge. The statement noted that the event took place at the house of the judge’s relative, and the underage child shown in the video also belonged to that relative. In addition, all of the judge’s children are adults, with the youngest being 22 years old.
At the same time, it was acknowledged that the judge attended the event at his relative’s house during non-working hours. The materials have now been submitted to the Judicial Ethics Commission under the council to assess whether his participation violated the rules of the Code of Judicial Ethics.
It should be reminded that Article 62 of the Law “On Courts” states that a judge must comply with the requirements of the Code of Judicial Ethics not only in the exercise of his powers, but also in personal relations. A judge must refrain from any actions that could undermine the authority of the judiciary, damage the honor and dignity of the judge, or cast doubt on his impartiality, objectivity, and fairness.
Therefore, the discussions arising around this video are being regarded as a test not only for the personal life of one judge, but also for the reputation of the entire judicial system. The public is awaiting the decision of the commission and the results of the investigation.
