A major case of corruption has been identified in the khokimiyat of the Buston district of the Andijan region. According to information released by the State Security Service, the deputy khokim of the district for investment issues and the deputy khokim for agriculture were detained on charges of bribery.
It was reported that officials colluded and promised to cover the $500,000 export obligation of the farm in the region through fraudulent operations. In return, 65 million soums in bribes were demanded from them.
According to the details of the State Security Service, in August of this year, the deputy for agriculture received 25 million soums in advance. The remaining 40 million soums were seized by law enforcement officers while receiving them through the deputy governor for investment.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against them under clauses "v" and "g" of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This article provides for the receipt of bribes by officials through extortion by prior conspiracy. Investigative bodies applied a preventive measure of "detention" to them.
The disclosure of such cases in the process of combating corruption is considered an important step towards ensuring transparency and honesty in government bodies. At the same time, it was once again reminded that persons holding responsible positions are required to remain law-abiding and prioritize the interests of society over personal interests.
