25 kg of drugs imported from Afghanistan discovered

In the Fergana region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the distribution of a large amount of narcotic substances was prevented. According to the State Security Service, more than 25 kilograms of narcotics smuggled from Afghanistan were seized.

According to the information, 9 kg 896 g of hashish, previously transported by drug couriers from Surkhandarya region to Fergana region and kept under special surveillance, were intercepted. At the moment of attempting to retrieve these substances from a hidden place in a field, a resident of Margilan city, a private entrepreneur (born in 1983), and his criminal accomplice (born in 1989) were detained with material evidence.

During the operation, 14,500 US dollars and 6.25 million soums were also seized from them and officially documented. In addition, during the pre-investigation check, 110 g of opium, two electronic scales, 1,200 US dollars and 28 million soums were found in the house of a third person and documented in accordance with procedure. It was established that these narcotic substances were intended to be distributed among consumers in the Fergana Valley.

At the same time, within the framework of combating drug trafficking along the Afghan route, a special operation was also carried out in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. According to the investigation, a resident of the Turtkul district, previously convicted for crimes related to drug trafficking, conspired with his accomplice living in the Khazorasp district of Khorezm region to order a large amount of opium from Afghan drug dealers for further sale and profit.

As a result, narcotic substances brought by drug couriers from Afghanistan to Surkhandarya region were left in a hiding place in Turtkul district. During the special operation, the individuals from Turtkul and Khazorasp were detained with material evidence while retrieving 6 kg 149 g of opium and 9 kg 814 g of poppy straw.

According to the State Security Service, a criminal case has been opened against them under Article 28,246 (Smuggling) and Article 273 (Illegal preparation, acquisition, storage and other actions with narcotic drugs, as well as their illegal sale) of the Criminal Code. By court decision, a preventive measure in the form of detention was applied to the suspects.

Experts emphasize that the spread of narcotic substances poses a serious threat to public safety. Therefore, law enforcement agencies continue to strengthen operational measures to prevent such cases.
