The State Security Service has announced another major case of corruption in the country. It is noted that the illegal actions of some employees of the system of the Customs and Tax Committees were stopped.
According to the information, the operational measures were carried out in cooperation with the Department of Personal Security of the Customs Committee, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office.
In the first case, an inspector of the "Navoi" border post of the Tashkent Regional Customs Administration was detained. Using his official powers, he promised to help a citizen born in 1979 to import 7 kilograms of gold from Kazakhstan without a declaration. In return, he was caught red-handed in Chirchik while receiving $5,000. Currently, a case has been initiated against him under Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribery) and a preventive measure of imprisonment has been applied.
The second case concerns the chief inspector of the Sector of the State Tax Inspectorate of the Shaykhantakhur District of Tashkent. He demanded $2,500 under the pretext of "solving the issue" through his high-ranking acquaintances to liquidate the activities of an LLC engaged in wholesale food trade. He was detained while receiving the requested money in front of the district tax inspectorate building. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 168 (fraud) and Article 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.
Another case was recorded in the Mirabad district. An inspector assigned to mahallas of the tax inspectorate transferred 10 million soums to his bank card in exchange for not conducting an inspection of the store under his supervision and warning in advance about any future inspections. He was apprehended during an operational event.
Law enforcement agencies assess these cases as a practical example of the fight against corruption in the country. Officials emphasized that civil servants must work only within the framework of the law, and any illegal actions will lead to serious liability.
