Criminal case opened over mass poisoning of children in kindergartens

The case of mass poisoning of children in preschool institutions in Tashkent region has become a serious social and legal issue. Following previous incidents in Piskent and Buka districts, the Kuyi-Chirchik district was also added to the affected areas. This was officially reported by the Children’s Ombudsman.

According to reports, on September 24, pupils of state kindergartens in Piskent, Buka, and Kuyi-Chirchik districts sought medical assistance from district health facilities due to various symptoms, including elevated body temperature, nausea, and diarrhea.

Based on preliminary medical examinations, the necessary treatment was provided to the children, and most of the children, whose health improved, were sent home. No severe cases were reported.

In addition, specialists from the Sanitary-Epidemiological Safety and Public Health Department, as well as the district departments of Piskent, Buka, and Oqqorgon, inspected the kitchens of preschool institutions and collected laboratory samples of the food consumed by the children for proper analysis.

Any situation related to the mass poisoning of children is investigated under the constant supervision and control of the relevant authorities.

On September 25, the investigative department under the Tashkent Regional Internal Affairs Department initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 257-1 of the Criminal Code (violation of sanitary legislation or epidemic prevention rules). Preliminary investigative actions are being carried out, and the Children’s Ombudsman continues to monitor the situation from the perspective of protecting children’s interests.
