Discussions are still ongoing about an unusual yet joyful event in the Tashkent metro. At the “Gafur Gulyam” station, a baby was born, and both the newborn and the brave mother have been granted lifetime free access to the metro. This was officially announced by the Tashkent Metro Directorate.
The incident occurred on October 6. It was an ordinary working day — station attendant Naima Makhamadjonova was on duty. Suddenly, an internal affairs officer informed her that a female passenger was in distress. Without hesitation, Naima Makhamadjonova acted swiftly.
She quickly assessed the situation and applied the knowledge she had gained from special training. Every second mattered. She assisted the woman and helped deliver the baby safely. Naima not only helped the mother but also performed critical medical steps — cutting the umbilical cord and stimulating the newborn’s breathing.
Until the arrival of the ambulance and the woman’s relatives, metro employees kept the mother and child under supervision. For about ten minutes, Naima and her colleagues monitored their condition and ensured their safety.
This act of courage and dedication made a strong impression on the public. The Tashkent Metro administration plans to reward Naima Makhamadjonova and other employees involved in the process.
Most importantly, thanks to such selfless individuals, the metro has become not only a means of transport but also a place where lives can be saved.
This incident once again reminded everyone of the value of life, humanity, and timely assistance.
Thus, a new bright page has been added to the history of the Tashkent Metro — a page about the heroic woman Naima Makhamadjonova and the new life that came into the world through her hands.
