A verdict has been announced in the case of the explosion that occurred in Samarkand in May of this year, which claimed the lives of seven people.
According to the investigation materials, the tragedy took place in a private house in the city of Samarkand. As a result of the explosion, seven members of one family died, and several houses and structures were severely damaged.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the gas pipeline that caused the explosion had been installed without project documentation and in violation of safety regulations. Most tragically, the homeowners had appealed to the relevant authorities 11 times before the incident, but none of their complaints were addressed.
Thus, due to the negligence and irresponsibility of employees of the “Samarkand Regional Gas Supply” company, natural gas leaked into the central sewage well, leading to ignition and a powerful explosion.
The tragedy not only destroyed one family’s life but also left a deep mark on the entire neighborhood. Many residents still recall that night, saying they had long waited for justice to be restored.
During the court hearing, it was established that four responsible employees of the company were directly involved in the crime. They were charged under Article 116, Part 4, Clauses “a” and “b” of the Criminal Code. Each was sentenced to seven years in prison.
In addition, according to the court’s decision, the “Samarkand Gas Supply” company bears financial responsibility toward the citizens. Nearly 6 billion soums will be recovered from the company in favor of those affected by the explosion.
This case is regarded not only as the closure of a tragedy but also as accountability for negligence. Because if every appeal had been heard in time, these seven people might still be alive today.
Experts emphasize that every mistake in the gas system is connected to human life. To prevent such incidents in the future, both technical and humanitarian oversight must be strengthened.
