Two citizens held accountable for fishing with electric fishing rods

In the Syrdarya region, two men were detained while fishing illegally using an electric rod. It was reported that they caused damage to wildlife worth more than 350 million soms. This was announced by the Ministry of Ecology and Climate Change.

According to the ministry, during a joint raid conducted with law enforcement officers in the “Bahmal” mahalla of the Gulistan district, citizens A.T. and M.D. used an electric device to catch fish in the “Shurazak” canal and illegally caught 37 fish. They were stopped while attempting to remove the catch from the water using a rubber boat.

During the inspection, one electric fishing rod, a battery, a boat, oars, and a night lighting device were seized as evidence.

Experts calculated that their actions caused environmental damage exceeding 352 million soms. As a result, they violated the laws “On Hunting and Fishing,” “On the Protection and Use of Wildlife,” and “On Environmental Protection.”

The case materials have been submitted to the Syrdarya Regional Prosecutor’s Office for legal assessment. Specialists urge citizens to refrain from illegal fishing and strictly follow environmental protection regulations.
