Students caught with drugs in Tashkent

It has been reported that students from several prestigious universities in the capital have been detained on suspicion of possessing and distributing narcotics. During a search, one of the suspects was found to have a large amount of drugs, including approximately 700 grams of marijuana, 600 grams of hashish, and 100 grams of mephedrone.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this situation and an investigation is currently underway. This incident once again highlights the trend of young people being drawn into the drug business.

In particular, the increasing number of advertisements and messages online encouraging teenagers to earn large and easy profits is causing concern. According to statistical data, this issue is becoming a serious problem.

In just the first half of 2025, 46 university students in Uzbekistan were found guilty of being involved in drug trafficking. At the same time, the number of clandestine laboratories producing synthetic substances in the country is also increasing.

If five such laboratories were discovered in 2024, in the first six months of 2025 this figure has reached eight.
