In recent days, political discussions on social media have once again intensified. According to local sources, some users are defending public activist Hamid Sodiq, while others are supporting blogger Abror Mukhtar Aliy.
The issue became even more heated after claims that Hamid Sodiq had received threats. It is currently reported that 30 journalists, lawyers, scholars, and activists have filed a lawsuit against Abror Mukhtar Aliy.
Former deputy Rasul Kusherbayev also commented on the situation, emphasizing that freedom of speech and expression must be protected by the state. According to him, publicly shaming someone under the name of religion is not permissible under Uzbekistan’s Constitution.
“In some of Abror Mukhtar Aliy’s statements, there are calls that contradict the secular principles of the state, and this can be regarded as a threat to citizens’ constitutional rights,” Kusherbayev wrote.
Human rights activist Abdurahmon Tashanov also stated that this situation requires a legal assessment.
At present, the public is waiting for an official response from state authorities to Mukhtar Aliy’s statements.
