
In the Kasansay district of the Namangan region, a person who illegally smuggled gold worth 1.1 billion soums from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan was detained. This was reported during a joint operation conducted by the State Security Service Department for Namangan region, border troops, and the regional Department of Internal Affairs.
During the operation, it was established that a resident of the Kasansay district, on the instructions of his uncle, illegally imported gold ingots weighing 1 kg 168 g from Kyrgyzstan by detour routes. The estimated value of this gold is 1.1 billion soums.
During this operation, conducted in cooperation with the State Security Service and other law enforcement agencies, the individual was caught red-handed while delivering the gold to another relative.
In connection with this situation, a criminal case was initiated, and investigative actions were launched. Violations related to the import of precious metals from neighboring Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan are being observed throughout the country. Also, initially, three people were detained in Samarkand for attempting to illegally sell gold, and in the Bukhara region, 37 people were detained for illegal gold mining in the Shafirkan district.
Currently, investigations into these cases are ongoing, and through these measures, the fight against the precious metal trade and related crimes in the country continues.
