Taftish.uz case: Tashkent police officially detained five

Reports circulated on social media claiming that the entire editorial team of the online outlet «Taftish.uz» had been “taken away.” Following those claims, the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs issued an official statement.

According to the official information, on January 16, 2026, several individuals were detained in accordance with procedure on suspicion of committing offenses предусмотренные under Articles 165 and 168 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code.

The statement lists the following detainees:

  • G‘ayrat Aberaev (born 1988)

  • Taftish.uz online outlet employees:

    • Azizjon Yuldashev (born 1992)

    • Sardor Hamidov (born 2000)

    • Marjona Eshquvvatova (born 2006)

    • Dilshod Nishonov (born 1998)

It was also stated that the possible involvement of these individuals in offenses предусмотренные under Articles 139 and 244/6 of the Criminal Code is being examined.
