The relocation of industrial enterprises outside the city of Tashkent has begun

The enterprise "Uzikkilamchiranglimetall" ("Uzvtorsvetmet"), specializing in the collection, processing, and production of secondary non-ferrous metals in the Yangikhayot district of Tashkent, will be relocated to the industrial zone of the Jizzakh region in order to prevent the negative impact on the environment. This was reported by the press service of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change.

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 30, 2025, No. 16 "On the State Program for the Implementation of the "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy in the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy," systemic measures are being implemented in the country to modernize environmentally hazardous and energy-intensive production facilities and their phased relocation outside cities.

Moving one industrial enterprise outside the capital area will allow reducing emissions by more than 226 tons per year.

This document provides for the development, together with relevant organizations, of substantiated proposals for the relocation of enterprises of the asbestos and cement industries, leather and footwear and poultry production, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, as well as other energy-intensive industries from the cities of Tashkent and Nukus, as well as regional centers.

In particular, there are 87 enterprises in Tashkent that meet these requirements, and their relocation is planned to be carried out in stages with the condition of modernizing existing production capacities and bringing technological processes in line with modern environmental standards.

In order to ensure the fulfillment of the assigned tasks, the Special Commission conducts regular raid inspections at industrial facilities. In particular, the activities of JSC "Uzikkilamchiranglimetall," specializing in the collection, processing, and production of secondary non-ferrous metals, were inspected in the Southern Industrial Zone of the Yangikhayot District of Tashkent. This enterprise belongs to the 1st category of environmental hazard.

According to the results of an inspection conducted in October 2025, cases of environmental pollution were identified. The company was issued a mandatory order, and compensation for environmental damage in the amount of 18 billion 91 million 717 thousand 137 soums was calculated.

Based on the decision of the Special Commission and the instructions of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, in order to prevent a negative impact on the environment, the enterprise will be relocated to the industrial zone in the Jizzakh region and will cease production activities in the Yangikhayot district.

Obsolete and environmentally harmful smelting furnaces will be disposed of at the expense of the benefits provided for compensation payments, and the enterprise will continue its activities on technologically improved equipment that fully meets modern environmental requirements.

"As a result of the measures taken, it is expected that an average of 226.7 tons of harmful substances will be released into the atmosphere per year. This will significantly improve air quality in the Yangikhayot district of Tashkent," the committee said.
