As a result of a road traffic accident in the Fergana region, one person died. According to the regional Department of Internal Affairs, the incident occurred on January 19, 2026, at around 9:00 p.m. in a mountainous area within the territory of the “Yordon” mahalla of Fergana district.
It is reported that a “Captiva” vehicle driven by A.A., born in 1981, was traveling on a narrow mountain road not intended for vehicle traffic when the driver lost control due to the road surface being covered with snow and ice. As a result, the vehicle overturned and fell down a slope.
The driver was taken to hospital with severe injuries — a closed traumatic brain injury and in a coma. However, despite all emergency medical and resuscitation measures provided by doctors, it was not possible to save the victim’s life.
Authorities stated that an investigation is currently being carried out in accordance with established procedures.
