School students on moped hit car in Navoi

A severe traffic accident involving underage drivers occurred in the Soyikechar village, located within the Istiqlol neighborhood of the Nurota district in the Navoi region. Two teenage boys riding a moped lost control of their vehicle and crashed head-on into an oncoming car. Fortunately, despite the alarming nature of the collision, the incident did not result in any tragic fatalities or severe physical injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation, the two boys involved in the crash are ninth-grade students attending general education school No. 14 in the Nurota district. The teenagers were traveling on a "Lochin" moped, which reportedly belonged to the father of one of the boys. The student operating the moped lacked the necessary driving experience and legal authorization to handle the vehicle. Consequently, he suddenly lost control of the moped, veered into the opposite lane, and violently collided with a "Cobalt" passenger car. Both the moped and the car sustained significant mechanical damage as a result of the heavy impact.
Following the accident, local law enforcement authorities immediately intervened to address the situation and prevent future occurrences. The students and their parents were summoned to the district police department for a comprehensive preventive discussion. Officials emphasized that operating a motor vehicle requires specific knowledge, practical skills, and a high level of responsibility, reminding them that moped drivers are strictly bound by the same traffic rules as all other motorists on the road.
Fayozjon Qosimov, the head of the information service of the Navoi region Internal Affairs Department, provided further details regarding the preventive measures taken. He stated that during the conversation, the authorities clearly explained how such reckless actions could easily lead to severe injuries or even death. To reinforce the message, the teenagers and their parents were shown an impactful educational video about road safety. Finally, the parents were required to sign formal written pledges, committing to establishing strict and continuous supervision over their children to ensure they do not engage in unauthorized driving in the future.
