MMA fighter Shahzod Gold sentenced to 3.5 years in prison

In Tashkent, the cassation court changed the sentence of MMA fighter Shahzod Uzoqov, known as Gold on social media. The court decided that the previous restriction of liberty is replaced with 3.5 years of imprisonment.

It is reported that on November 7, 2025, the Olmazor District Court found Shahzod Uzoqov and N. Quldo’shev guilty of hooliganism and sentenced them to 3.5–4 years of restricted freedom. Investigation revealed that the conflict arose over a road dispute; they used force against a victim, hit another person causing bodily injury, and fled the scene. During the incident, the victim's valuable phone was also damaged.

The cassation court recognized the crime qualification as correct but disagreed with the type of sentence imposed. It was considered that the defendants had previous convictions for similar crimes and that they are professional MMA athletes. The court emphasized their physical advantage and high level of responsibility.

As a result, the first instance verdict was overturned, and both individuals were sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment. They were taken into custody from the courtroom. The court also decided to deduct any previously served time from the new sentence.

The court statement is not final; the parties have the right to appeal in the prescribed manner.
