Gas and electricity theft cases uncovered in Fergana and Tashkent regions
In brief

Law enforcement agencies in Uzbekistan have uncovered several major cases of illegal gas and electricity consumption in the Fergana and Tashkent regions. Investigations revealed that multiple businesses and private individuals bypassed meters to connect directly to the grid, resulting in total damages exceeding 1.5 billion soums. Criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects for theft and violation of energy regulations, with investigations currently ongoing. Authorities emphasized that these crackdowns are part of a broader effort to ensure the stability of the national energy supply and prevent significant economic losses.

As part of the ongoing nationwide campaign against the illegal use of energy resources, several new violations have been identified. Control measures conducted by the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies have exposed a series of serious incidents.

Specifically, in the city of Kuvasoy, officials of the "P.F." LLC were found to have arbitrarily connected a catering outlet to the natural gas network. As a result, it was revealed that they illegally utilized gas resources worth 903.6 million soums.

In addition, inspections in the Fergana region revealed that M.J., the head of "A.Y." LLC, illegally used electricity amounting to 264.5 million soums by connecting directly to the power grid at a catering point in the Kushtepa district.

A similar case was recorded in the capital. In the Sergeli district of Tashkent, it was discovered that citizen D.R. illegally connected to the electricity grid for a production workshop established in a private residence, consuming energy worth 248.6 million soums.

Another incident was documented in the Yangibozor district. In the "Obod" neighborhood, citizen G.A. illegally connected to the natural gas network at their home, resulting in the unauthorized use of gas valued at 147.3 million soums.

Criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents under relevant articles of the Criminal Code concerning theft and violations of the rules for the use of energy resources. Investigative proceedings are currently underway for all cases.

Experts emphasize that such violations not only cause economic damage but also pose a serious threat to the stability of the energy supply system. Consequently, control measures are expected to be further strengthened, with strict actions taken against illegal activities.
