Riverbanks in Tashkent to be revitalized, 12 artificial lakes to be created

On April 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation aimed at the further development of the hydropower sector. During the discussion, major projects were considered regarding not only energy but also the improvement of the ecological environment in Tashkent and the creation of comfortable, cool conditions for the population.

The presentation provided detailed information on plans to landscape the areas around rivers and canals passing through the capital, establish modern recreation areas, and create artificial lakes and water reservoirs to improve the city's microclimate.

In particular, a large-scale "Daryo boʻyi" project is planned for a 16-kilometer section of the Chirchiq River passing through Tashkent. Within the framework of this initiative, modern recreational zones covering 306 hectares will be created. Riverbanks will be reinforced, green zones will be established, and trade and service facilities will be situated.

At the same time, the creation of a "green belt" on an area of 187.3 hectares along the Bektemir Canal is envisioned. Promenades, pedestrian and bicycle paths, internal roads, modern lighting systems, and bridges will be built here. This means a comfortable environment will be created for the capital's residents, not only aesthetically but also functionally.

The presentation also paid special attention to another important direction—the construction of artificial lakes. According to the initial plan, the creation of 4 lakes was envisioned. However, the President noted that this number was insufficient and gave specific instructions to increase their number to 12.

Such projects are expected to bring the urban environment to a completely new level. The expansion of green areas, the increase in water bodies, and the improvement of infrastructure will not only stabilize the ecological situation but also transform Tashkent into a more modern and attractive megacity.

In short, these changes in the capital are not merely landscaping but an investment in the future. There is a high probability that tomorrow Tashkent will become an ideal city not only for living but also for recreation.
