The reason for the fish die-off in the Achchisoy canal in Zangiota has been identified

Footage showing dead fish floating in the Achchisoy canal in the Zangiota district has sparked widespread discussion on social media. The State Environmental Control Inspectorate (Ecological Police) of the Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection promptly investigated the situation. Zamin.uz presents the details of this unfortunate incident that led to the disruption of the ecological balance.
Consequences of negligence: Fish suffocated
Investigations revealed that the water level in a reservoir belonging to "Damachi Baliq" LLC, located in the "Ittifoqchi" neighborhood of the Zangiota district, was lowered without justification. As a result, a lack of oxygen in the water led to the mass death of fish weighing approximately 200-300 grams.
Most regrettably, instead of rectifying the situation, a farm worker collected the dead fish and dumped them into the Achchisoy canal, which flows through the district. This action rightfully caused public outrage.
Laboratory findings: Increased levels of toxic substances in the water
In-depth analysis of samples taken from the wastewater by specialists revealed that the ecological situation in the area is quite alarming. According to the test results, the concentration of chemical substances in the water exceeded established standards by several times:
Ammonium nitrogen — 1.7 times above the limit;
Nitrite nitrogen — 1.95 times above the limit;
Total phosphorus — 1.8 times above the limit;
Dry residue — 1.28 times above the limit.
These indicators demonstrate that wastewater is being discharged into nature without sufficient treatment, posing a serious threat to biodiversity.
Strict measures taken against those responsible
Administrative protocols were drawn up against the company's officials regarding the identified violations. To compensate for the damage caused to nature, a compensation payment of 92 million soums was assessed against the company.
Furthermore, mandatory instructions were issued to the company's management to prevent such incidents from recurring, and the Achchisoy canal was fully cleared of the dead fish. Ecological Police officers continue to monitor the environmental situation in the area.
Dear readers, do you think the penalties imposed on entrepreneurs who are indifferent to nature and wildlife are sufficient? What else do you think should be done to prevent such incidents?
If you observe similar situations in your area, do not remain indifferent and report them to the relevant authorities!
