A major traffic accident involving numerous vehicles has been recorded in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of our capital. Dozens of cars waiting at a red light were crushed in an instant. Zamin.uz reporter investigated the details of this sensational incident.
Unexpected tragedy: Equinox loses control
How did the incident happen?
On May 5 of this year, around 16:25, a horrific collision occurred on Mirzo Ulugbek Street. According to the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs, a 73-year-old driver, R.K., operating a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling at high speed and crashed into cars waiting at the traffic light.
It turned out that the elderly driver lost control due to a sudden deterioration in his health. As a result, before veering off the road, the car caused a chain reaction, damaging a total of 15 vehicles. Videos circulating on social media show cars piled into each other due to the force of the impact.
Condition of victims: No fatalities
Medical assistance and diagnoses
Thankfully, there were no human casualties as a result of this major collision. However, several citizens required medical attention:
Main driver (R.K.): Hospitalized immediately with a fractured pelvis, a fractured left shoulder, and a closed head injury.
Other drivers: Three citizens born in 1968, 1971, and 1985 sustained minor injuries. They received necessary medical treatment at the scene and in the hospital.
Investigation continues
Currently, officers from the Tashkent City Traffic Safety Department are conducting an investigation into the case. Experts are determining all details of the incident and the amount of material damage caused.
