What positions does "Real" want to strengthen in the summer?
Real Madrid have begun serious preparations for the summer transfer window. The team's scouts are focusing on finding a worthy replacement for experienced midfielder Luka Modric. According to SI.com, the club has begun looking for a new central midfielder, taking into account the future of the 39-year-old Croatian player.

Modric continues to play at a high level. He has played more than 2,000 minutes on the field this season, but Real Madrid are planning to plan in advance whether he will stay in the team for long. Therefore, Madrid is looking for players to replace him.

Who are the main candidates?

The Royal Club is considering several options to solve this problem. The first candidate is Bayer Leverkusen's 21-year-old Florian Wirs. His price is estimated at around 130 million euros, and Madrid has already made an offer to attract him to the team.

Modric, however, does not intend to leave big football just yet. He wants to extend his contract with Real for another year. His main goal is to play at a high level until the 2026 World Cup. The club will make a final decision on this in May.

Who else is needed in midfield?

Previously, Real Madrid saw Arda Guler as a replacement for Modric, but the Turkish player is a more attacking player and is less able to control the rhythm in the center. Therefore, the team continues to search for a player who can control the game in the center.

Defensive line to be strengthened

It is not only the midfield that is planned to be strengthened, but also the defense. Real Madrid are currently looking for a right-back. Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold is mentioned as the main candidate. If this deal does not materialize, Madrid may negotiate with Tottenham's Pedro Porro, Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremy Frimpong or Sevilla defender Juanlu Sanchez.

In addition, the team intends to strengthen the central defense. Arsenal defender William Saliba is one of the main candidates on Madrid's shortlist. Because his current contract with Arsenal expires in 2027 and a decision has not yet been made on its extension.

Real Madrid's results this season

For information, Real Madrid is in 2nd place in the Spanish championship standings with 50 points after 28 rounds. This shows the need to further strengthen the team.
