In the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, Barcelona crushed Borussia Dortmund 4–0 at home. But the biggest news of the match wasn’t the scoreline — it was Robert Lewandowski’s historic record!
Lewandowski: “Only I have such a double!”
36-year-old Polish national striker Robert Lewandowski scored twice against his former club Borussia and became the hero of the match. With this double, he added a new chapter to the history of the Champions League.
According to Opta Sports, Lewandowski is the only footballer to have scored 10 or more goals in one season of the Champions League for three different clubs:
- Borussia Dortmund
- Bayern Munich
- Barcelona
In each of these teams, he managed to score 10+ goals in a single UCL season. Neither Messi nor Ronaldo has done this!
Third place in the all-time scorers list
The two goals against Dortmund also helped Lewandowski solidify third place in the Champions League’s top scorer ranking:
🥇 Cristiano Ronaldo — 140 goals
🥈 Lionel Messi — 129 goals
🥉 Robert Lewandowski — 107 goals
No one else is close behind. The Polish forward is still pushing hard in the top scorer race this season.
Lewandowski not only defeated Borussia — he also rewrote history. What Messi and Ronaldo couldn’t do, he accomplished. And if he continues at this pace, the records won’t stop coming! Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
