Manchester United's management, which is planning significant squad improvements during the summer transfer window, has made an unexpected decision to address problems in the attacking line.
According to reports, the club’s academy graduate, the famous forward Marcus Rashford, who has become surplus to head coach Ruben Amorim's requirements, might be exchanged for another English footballer. The Red Devils' management is currently aiming to bring in Aston Villa's renowned forward Ollie Watkins.
Recall that in January, the 27-year-old Rashford moved from Manchester United to Aston Villa on loan due to lack of playing time. The England international played 15 matches for his new team, demonstrating a return to high form. In these games, he scored 3 goals and made 5 assists, once again proving himself positively. Nevertheless, United are not planning to bring their academy graduate back.
The Manchester club is looking for another forward and has decided to acquire 29-year-old Ollie Watkins. Watkins has played 48 games for Aston Villa in all competitions this season, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists, indicating his high level of performance.
Interestingly, in the Champions League quarterfinal against PSG, Aston Villa's head coach Unai Emery started Rashford, leaving Watkins, the team's main forward, on the bench. Now, Manchester United plans to bring Watkins into their ranks.
Reports indicate that Manchester United, under Ruben Amorim, has struggled to achieve expected results from their attacking line players. In particular, forwards Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have faced challenges in establishing themselves as key attackers.
Currently, there is great interest in how negotiations on this transfer will progress and what the outcome will be. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on this deal. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
