The President congratulated the Uzbek hockey team on their great victory

Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the Uzbek national hockey team on winning the IV division of the World Championship. This was reported by the presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.

“President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is following the achievements of our athletes with special interest and attention,” he wrote.
Sherzod Asadov noted that in April, Uzbekistan’s successes in sports were not limited to football. In particular, the Uzbek national hockey team also showed excellent results on the international stage. At the World Championship in Armenia, the hockey players won their division and earned the right to participate in the third division next season. Earlier, in March, the national team also won the World Championship among hockey players under 18 years of age, which was held in Thailand.

At the Asian Athletics Championships among athletes under 18 years of age held in Saudi Arabia, our compatriots won 12 medals - 3 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze - and for the first time in their history took second place in the overall team standings.

“These achievements are, first of all, due to the tireless work, high skill, strong will and perseverance of our young men and women. It is worth noting that the attention paid to the sports sector and systematic state policy also play a special role in this. The sports infrastructure in our country has significantly improved, new schools are being opened, and conditions are being created for the professional development of athletes,” noted Sherzod Asadov.
