Abdukodir Khusanov’s future at Manchester City under question: Could Barcelona sign him?
The absence of Uzbekistan national team and Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov from the club’s recent five matches has sparked various speculations among fans.

News regarding the young footballer's future at the English club continues to increase. According to recent European media reports, Pep Guardiola, the manager of the Citizens, favors sending the Uzbek defender out on loan for better adaptation to the high-paced European football. Meanwhile, the club's management is seriously considering selling him.

Naturally, interest in a player of Khusanov’s caliber is high. Clubs from England, Germany, Spain, and Italy are closely monitoring the situation and have shown interest in the Uzbek defender.

Particularly intriguing are reports from European media claiming Manchester City offered their player to Barcelona.

Reputable Spanish sports outlets have reported Guardiola has offered his former club the opportunity to sign Abdukodir Khusanov for €40 million.

According to the information, Manchester City would not oppose selling the defender, who has lacked sufficient playing time since summer, if there is an opportunity to recoup the transfer fee spent on him.

Khusanov himself is reportedly dissatisfied with the current situation at the club. The young player has instructed his agents to explore other clubs to change the current circumstances.

Joe Williams, an expert from the well-known publication football365.com, states Barcelona is one of the primary clubs interested in Khusanov.

“The Catalan club is examining players for the central defender position. Although Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah is considered the primary candidate, Barcelona officials and sporting director Deco are seriously exploring the possibility of signing the young Uzbek footballer,” Joe Williams writes.

It's worth noting Manchester City already has experience transferring players to Barcelona, a strategy that previously proved successful.

For example, in December 2021, Pep Guardiola recommended City forward Ferran Torres to Barcelona, and shortly after, the transfer officially occurred.

Another case involved Ilkay Gündogan. In 2023, following Guardiola's recommendation after his contract with City ended, the German midfielder joined Barcelona for one season and subsequently returned to Manchester City.

As a reminder, on January 20, 2024, Manchester City signed Abdukodir Khusanov from French side Lens for €40 million. His current contract with City runs until summer 2029.

Although various European media outlets are currently circulating different speculations about Khusanov’s future, Manchester City’s official website regularly publishes photos and videos demonstrating the Uzbek player actively training and maintaining a positive attitude.

While Abdukodir Khusanov’s future remains uncertain, we continue closely observing this situation. Time will ultimately reveal the outcome of this potential transfer...
