In the second half of the current season, Roma has been revitalized. While in the beginning of the campaign, qualifying for the Champions League seemed like a distant dream, under the leadership of Claudio Ranieri, the team has transformed. At the heart of this change is the effective partnership of Eldor Shomurodov and Artem Dovbyk.
According to Italian media, Ranieri’s Roma is unbeaten in 19 matches — with 14 wins and 5 draws. More and more analysts believe that the Shomurodov–Dovbyk duo is the engine behind this streak.
In an article published by La Repubblica, titled “Rome moves closer to Europe with Shomurodov and Dovbyk”, it’s noted that the only goal in the win over Fiorentina came from their combination play. The Uzbek and Ukrainian forwards have together breathed new life into Roma’s attack.
Shomurodov is opening up space, moving freely and distracting defenders — creating perfect chances for the physically dominant Dovbyk. The result? Wins, points, and a real shot at the Champions League.
So far, they’ve shared the pitch for over 350 minutes, producing four goal contributions. In just the last five matches, Shomurodov has scored twice and provided two assists.
He rescued Roma against Juventus with a crucial goal. He scored the only goal in the win over Verona. And he assisted in the decisive goals against Inter and Fiorentina.
Overall this season, Shomurodov has played 34 matches in all competitions, with 7 goals and 5 assists. His performances have earned him great respect from both the fans and the coaching staff.
Ranieri is now expected to regularly use this #9 and #99 strike duo, which is turning Roma’s attack into a real threat.
What’s next? Likely more goals, more victories, and maybe even a Champions League ticket. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
