Real Madrid are on the verge of extending their contract with Luka Modric, one of the most reliable and loyal players of the last decade. This was reported by the well-known insider Nicolo Schira on his page on the social network.
According to reports, the “royal club” highly appreciates the contribution of the 38-year-old Croatian player to the team, despite his age, and is close to agreeing a new contract.
Modric himself is in favor of staying at the club. The reason is that he wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup as part of the Croatian national team and aims to maintain his high sports form until the World Cup.
In the 2024/25 season, Modric played 54 games for Real, scoring four goals and providing eight assists. It is worth noting that he has been playing for Madrid since 2012 and has won several trophies, including the Champions League, La Liga, and the Spanish Cup.
If a new deal is signed, Luka Modric, who turns 40 this fall, will become one of the oldest players to play for Real Madrid.
