The 2024/25 season in Italy’s Serie A has concluded, and Napoli officially secured another historic championship. In the final round, the Neapolitans defeated Cagliari 2–0 and ended the season with a total of 82 points.
However, even after the title, one of the main questions surrounding the club remains the future of Antonio Conte. After the match, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis made a public statement on the matter.
“I’m grateful to Conte, but not every place brings happiness”
De Laurentiis emphasized the coach’s contribution to securing a second Scudetto in two years but did not confirm whether Conte will remain:
“If someone doesn’t feel happy in a certain environment, they need a new setting — it was like that with Spalletti. I respect Conte. He brought the championship trophy to the club in two years. That’s not easy for a Southern Italian club,” he said.
What Spalletti and Conte taught us
De Laurentiis also recalled the importance of “atmosphere” during the Spalletti era. As for claims that the league lacked competition, he called those baseless:
“All clubs in Serie A have strengthened. The championship was decided in the final round — it wasn’t an easy path.”
Napoli without Conte?
Although no official decision has been made yet, De Laurentiis’ words suggest that Antonio Conte’s future at the club is uncertain. Most likely, the coach’s personal feelings and mindset will play a key role in the outcome.
A quick look at the season’s results
Napoli ended the season with 24 wins, 10 draws, and 4 losses. With 82 points, they managed to pull ahead of their rivals convincingly.
After a second championship title, Napoli may be entering a new chapter. Whether Conte stays or leaves will be a key decision not just for the club, but for Italian football as a whole. All eyes are now on De Laurentiis and Conte’s next move. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
