Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken out publicly about the team's performance this season. He said that if he had achieved the same results in Spain, he would have been out of a job a long time ago.
"We need to be a little more patient. Take Carlo Ancelotti - he recently won the Champions League and La Liga, and now he is managing the Brazilian national team. This shows what a high-level manager can do," said Pep Guardiola.
The famous specialist noted that in October, November and December, Manchester City failed to show the expected results. However, the atmosphere in English football is fundamentally different from the atmosphere in Spain.
"If I had achieved these results at Barcelona or Real Madrid, I would have been fired a long time ago. But here - in England - there is no such thing. There is confidence and patience here," he added.
Guardiola also spoke openly about his own internal struggles. He admitted that he had spent a lot of time thinking about how to get the team back on track and improve its results.
“I told myself: ‘Everything is fine, you’re doing well.’ But in reality, I couldn’t fix the situation this year. I thought several times about what changes to make, what approach would be effective. Unfortunately, this time the results didn’t change,” Pep said.
It should be noted that Manchester City have not been as dominant in the Champions League and the Premier League as they have been in previous years this season. Despite this, the team’s management continues to show confidence in Guardiola.
Thanks to his experience and the ideas he has brought to the club, this confidence has been fully maintained so far. Fans are waiting for the “city” to regain its prestige next season and return to victories with their excellent performances on the field. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
