Gian Piero Gasperini, who started his career as the new head coach of the famous Italian club Roma, caused a stir with his first decision. It became clear that Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbik has no place in his plans. This was reported by Italian and Ukrainian sports publications.
The 27-year-old central striker may leave Roma at the end of the season. It is said that the club's management decided to put the player on the transfer list. This decision is connected with Gasperini's tactical views and requirements. He wants to see strikers who are more active in the front line, who can fight under pressure and run relentlessly.
Artem Dovbik, on the other hand, is known as a classic central striker, who is more effective in positional play and specializes in finishing the ball directly. For this reason, his playing style does not fully meet the requirements of the new coach.
At the same time, it cannot be said that Dovbik's career was completely ineffective. He has had impressive stats for Spanish club Girona in the 2023/24 season - he scored 24 goals in 36 La Liga games. This figure has made him one of the most sought-after players not only in Spain but also in the entire European transfer market.
Last season at Roma was not so bright - only 12 goals in 32 games. These results have put Dovbik's future at Roma in question. Especially since the new coach's tactical views make his transfer even more likely.
At the same time, a number of European clubs are interested in Artem Dovbik's services. In particular, teams from the German Bundesliga and the French League have expressed their desire to add the Ukrainian striker to their ranks. Roma could also benefit financially from this transfer.
