A new chapter has opened in the career of Uzbekistan’s national team captain and beloved striker Eldor Shomurodov. After several years of playing actively in Italian football, the Uzbek legionnaire is now heading to the Turkish Super Lig.
According to famous Italian insider Gianluca Di Marzio, Eldor has accepted the offer from Istanbul Basaksehir. An agreement has been reached between the club and the player on all terms, and the transfer will be officially announced soon.
Since 2021, Eldor Shomurodov has been playing in Serie A. After impressing at Genoa, he caught the attention of the big club Roma and transferred to the Roman team for €19.5 million. He later played on loan for Spezia and Cagliari.
During his four seasons in Italy, Shomurodov played 119 matches in Serie A. In these matches, he scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists. These results allowed him to establish himself as a resilient and versatile striker in European football.
Turkish experts note that Shomurodov’s experience, physical strength, and goal-scoring instinct, gained in Serie A, will be well suited for the Super Lig. This transfer by Basaksehir could be a successful step for the club both tactically and in terms of marketing.
