In Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, the prestigious "World Boxing" Cup is being held from June 30 to July 7, where leading boxers from various countries around the world are showcasing their talent. This tournament is seen not only as an exchange of experience but also as an important stage in preparation for the Olympics.
In today’s first bout, our compatriot Farzona Fozilova stepped into the ring in the -48 kg weight category. Her opponent was Nazym Kyzaibay from Kazakhstan, a bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Despite putting in all her effort, Farzona lost the fight with a score of 0:5 and ended her participation in the tournament. Her preparation and bravery were positively evaluated by fans, but this time, luck was not on her side.
Meanwhile, the tournament started successfully for another of our athletes — Sabina Bobokulova. In the -51 kg weight category, she defeated her Italian opponent Martina Vassalloni with a clear score of 5:0 and advanced to the quarterfinals. Sabina's actions in the ring, her technique and mental stability once again proved her great potential.
The exciting matchups in the tournament do not end there. Ahead awaits the clash between Navbahor Hamidova and Madeleine Angelsen from Norway. This matchup also draws great interest among Uzbek sports fans.
