Experienced Uzbek defender Rustam Ashurmatov has taken his career to the next level — he will now play for Iranian club Istiklol. This was officially announced by the club's press service.
According to reports, Ashurmatov successfully passed a medical examination today and signed a two-year contract with Istiklol. The club welcomed him with great trust, and he is expected to be part of the main squad.
Earlier, Iranian media reported that Istiklol had bought Ashurmatov from Kazan’s Rubin for €450,000. The transfer is significant for both sides — Istiklol strengthens its defense line, and Ashurmatov gets the chance to prove himself in the Iranian league.

It is worth noting that Rustam Ashurmatov has also played several times for the Uzbekistan national team. His experience and positional awareness will likely be recognized in Iran as well.
