Lazizbek Mullojonov suspected of doping

Uzbek boxer Lazizbek Mullojonov is suspected of violating anti-doping rules,  citing the International Testing Agency (ITA).

On June 11, 2025, during an out-of-competition test, the sample taken from Mullojonov reportedly contained "methasterone" — an anabolic-androgenic steroid.

Methasterone is listed under the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) prohibited substances, specifically in section C1.1. It is banned at all times — both in and out of competition.

The substance is known for rapidly increasing muscle mass, strength, and endurance, making it highly controversial and illegal in professional sports.

Mullojonov has been officially notified of the findings and has the right to request the analysis of the "B" sample. If the second test also returns positive, it will be considered a formal doping violation. Refusal to test the second sample is treated the same.

The boxer will also be given a chance to explain the circumstances. Further investigations are ongoing, and disciplinary actions will depend on the outcome.
