What Did Kamoliddin Tojiyev Say About the Loss to AGMK?

The match of the 17th round of the Uzbekistan Super League between Pakhtakor and AGMK was held in a very intense and dynamic atmosphere. At the end of the match, Pakhtakor head coach Kamoliddin Tojiyev answered journalists' questions at a press conference.

Disappointment in the First Half and Missed Opportunities

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t start the match the way we expected. In the first half, we conceded a goal from the opponent, and as a result, we had to urgently reconsider our game. However, despite that, we created a few good chances during this half. We just couldn’t turn them into accurate shots,” said Tojiyev.

Comeback and Control in the Second Half

“After the break, we analyzed which areas the team had problems in and brought in three new players. This decision had a positive impact on the game. In my opinion, we completely controlled the second half. We scored a goal and equalized the score. But AGMK made use of set-pieces and scored twice more. We lost our focus — we must admit that. We had enough opportunities — we could’ve scored five goals.”

Attitude Towards Substitute Players

“Every footballer can have good and bad days. Today, two of our players couldn’t show their usual level of performance. So we had to substitute them. Such situations happen to any team.”

Injuries and Rotation Decisions

Tojiyev also clarified why Hojimat Erkinov didn’t appear in the match: “Hojimat has a minor injury. So we decided not to let him play.”

He also commented on Azizbek Turgunboev’s performance on the left flank and expressed satisfaction: “Aziz has played in this position before. He understands the left flank well and performed his duties perfectly. Today, too, he did well.”

Lack of Creativity in the Midfield and Tactical Choices

“Some may say there was a lack of creativity in the midfield. But we put Flamarion in, and in the second half we completely took control of the central area. Diyor Kholmatov was also one of our options, but you can’t put all players on the field at once.”

Final Thoughts

From the coach’s comments, it is clear that tactical changes, some injuries, and individual factors affected the result. However, the team’s effort and active play in the second half reflect strong team spirit. There is confidence that the team will return to its powerful form by correcting these mistakes in upcoming matches.
