Uzbek football legend Mirjalol Qosimov shared his opinion about the possible invitation of a foreign specialist to the position of national team head coach, reports championat.asia. Today, the national team has, for the first time in its history, secured a ticket to the World Cup, and this topic has attracted full attention from the public.
According to Qosimov, even if an experienced foreign coach arrives, the squad and the players will not fundamentally change. “Right now, we have a year ahead, and no one knows what might change tomorrow. The association’s officials are carefully studying all options and making calculations. I think we should give our own ‘gravedigger’ Kapadze a chance,” says Mirjalol Qosimov.
The football legend noted that every coach makes mistakes, but for stable results, consistency and trust are necessary. “With our World Cup qualification, our people have achieved another great historic success. It’s obvious that our president is also paying great attention to football,” he commented.
In Qosimov’s opinion, the national team currently has a strong foundation. There is complete information about all players, and Katanec’s assistants are still working with the current head coach. “Maybe a foreign specialist could be invited as an advisor or to some other position, because such a format would be something new for the team,” he said.
According to Mirjalol Qosimov, we should not be satisfied with just one World Cup qualification, but should aim to participate regularly. “Don’t just wait for results — set a goal, create the necessary conditions, ensure vitaminization, organize games with strong opponents. All of this requires funding,” he added.
The well-known specialist also emphasized that it would be just right to bring in an assistant for Kapadze who is well-versed in modern football. “I wish the national team good luck and hope for new achievements,” Mirjalol Qosimov concluded.
