Mirjalol Qosimov: “We didn’t deserve the defeat, everything is still ahead”

After the Super League Round 19 match “Dinamo” — OKMK (1:0), OKMK head coach Mirjalol Qosimov expressed his views at the press conference. He spoke in detail about the game’s dynamics, the team’s condition, and the sharpening tone of the tournament.

— Your thoughts about the match?
According to Qosimov, their staff expected an interesting and meaningful contest, and in terms of the result the visitors did not deserve the defeat. In the first half, OKMK had two favorable chances. They had studied “Dinamo” in advance, taking into account that they play very sharply on counterattacks. Despite that, they conceded due to their own mistake. In the second half there were attempts to fix the situation, but the final score did not change. “In the previous match we also couldn’t score, and today it was the same. I congratulate ‘Dinamo’ on the win — today the opponent defended very disciplined,” the coach said.

— The league table has become very tight. What do you think about that?
“Everything is still ahead. From here on, there will be the same intensity for every point. There are absolutely no ‘routine’ matches left,” Qosimov outlined the championship picture. According to him, 7–9 teams in the league have separated into a distinct group: at the bottom there is a fight to survive, at the top to win trophies. “We also have many matches — we will not stop,” the head coach added.

— OKMK has made several comebacks this season. Today it looked similar…
“In football, scoring a goal causes the game’s picture to change fundamentally. But breaking through a densely lined defense is not easy. After the goal, ‘Dinamo’ withdrew with extra force, switched to dense defending — this created enough problems for us,” Qosimov said.

— Sardor Mirzaev has been included in the match sheet after a long break. When might he take the field?
According to the specialist, Sardor Mirzaev is at the stage of full recovery after a severe injury. “After an injury, immediately ‘stepping on the gas’ is not easy. There still remains a little anxiety in the mind — and football is a combative game. Mirzaev has great experience, and he has been a good example for the youngsters in our team,” he said.

— Does the current table give grounds to say our football’s level is good?
Qosimov responded sharply: “Who said it’s bad?” In his view, many incoming legionnaires think they can “play walking” here. “But as we see, everyone is running. The times of playing football while walking have passed — this also indicates the level of our championship. We must never belittle our football,” the coach emphasized.

Brief conclusion: OKMK sought to create chances on the pitch, but the unlucky consequence of a single mistake and the opponent’s solid defense determined the result. Nevertheless, Mirjalol Qosimov announced that the team’s spirit will remain high and that preparation for the upcoming matches will continue with maximum intensity and confidence.
