After the Super League Round 20 match between Andijan and Pakhtakor (2:6), the home side’s head coach Maksim Shatskikh shared his thoughts at the press conference. According to him, today’s defeat was painful but at the same time became an important lesson for the team.
"The goals were very funny"
Speaking about the first half, Shatskikh said:
— I don’t even know what to say. You saw the goals we conceded in the first half. Very ridiculous situations. If we had scored at least one like that, I would have felt happy. In the second half we tried to fix things, but in the final minutes we conceded three more goals. That’s the truth.
"We only need time"
When asked what needs to be changed in the team, the coach replied:
— What we need most is time. You can’t build a new team in two or three months. Many new players joined, but for them to become a real team takes time. The most important thing is mentality. It doesn’t matter where a player has played before, what matters is the current moment. With enough time, this will be a completely different team.
"Every defeat has its reason"
Since the start of the second round, Andijan has played five matches and collected only four points. On this Shatskikh added:
— If you analyze each of our defeats, you’ll definitely find the reason. Navbahor, Mash’al, now Pakhtakor — these teams have strong capabilities. For example, Pakhtakor has individually strong players. We, on the other hand, try to play as a team. But look at the first three goals — even in children’s football such mistakes are not allowed. Nevertheless, today’s match was a big lesson for us. We have made conclusions about who should play in the starting lineup and who should remain on the bench in the next games.
"Erzhan has saved the team many times"
When asked about goalkeeper Erzhan Tokotaev, who conceded six goals, Shatskikh replied:
— Erzhan has saved our team many times. We will analyze his mistakes with the goalkeepers’ coach.
"Such games show who is who"
Commenting on the defenders’ play, Shatskikh added:
— Today we tried Altin Kreziu in central defense. Abdurakhmon Komilov also played. I will say it openly: there are players in our team who do not meet Andijan’s level. But they think they are worthy of the club. That is very bad. Such games show the true face of players. Unfortunately, we cannot change everything at once. As I said, everything needs time.
In conclusion, Shatskikh stressed that by learning lessons from today’s defeat, the team will show stronger performances in the upcoming matches.
