Rovshan Meredov: "We didn't win, but we drew conclusions"

At the CAFA Nations Cup 2025, the national team of Turkmenistan played its first match against Kyrgyzstan. After the match, head coach Rovshan Meredov shared his impressions of the game.

"It was a very exciting and intense match. We scored first, but the opponent quickly equalized the score. In any case, we still have a lot to work on. We must correct a number of situations before the next game. Of course, we had the intention to win, we created opportunities, but we couldn't take advantage of them. This tournament shows us what aspects we need to add. The Asian Cup qualifiers are ahead," Meredov said.

The coach also noted that he agrees with the thoughts expressed by the coach of the opposing team:

"Indeed, the condition of the field influenced the movement of the ball. However, both teams played under the same conditions. In fact, the result is clear - we couldn't win today. If it had been on a different field, the game would have been completely different. It's impossible to say which team will have the advantage."

It should be especially noted that although the Turkmenistan national team did not win in the first match of the competition, it inspired the fans with important conclusions for the upcoming matches.
