Forward Bruno Henrique was severely penalized for intentional dismissal and involvement in a betting scheme.
The Disciplinary Committee of the Supreme Court of Sport found the 34-year-old footballer guilty of violating the rules of fair play and attempting to influence the outcome of the national championship match.
According to the investigation, Enrique intentionally received a yellow card in the November 2023 match against Santos (1:2). It was found that this action generated income when betting through bookmaking. Consequently, the player was suspended from 12 matches and fined 60,000 reals (approximately $11,000). His right to appeal was retained.
The STJD stated that although the case was initially based on indirect evidence, the materials provided by the federal police were the decisive factor. According to the prosecutor's office, the player's actions damaged Flamengo and could have affected the outcome of the match.
Four amateur players, including Bruno Henrique's brother, Vander Nunes Pinto Junior, were also penalized. However, some participants who had no connection to the sports justice system were spared responsibility.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that Enrique could face criminal charges, up to 18 years in prison, and a fine of 2 million reais (approximately $362,000).
For information, Bruno Henrique has been playing for Flamengo since 2019. He made 40 appearances this season, scoring 9 goals and providing 2 assists.
