Joao Lopes, a local businessman vying for the presidency of Benfica in Portugal, has revealed his ambitious plans for the team's future. His main target was experienced midfielder Bernardo Silva, who is currently playing for Manchester City. This was reported by the "Record" publication.
According to the source, Lopesh has already begun serious and in-depth negotiations with Silva. It is noted that a special draft contract has been prepared for the Portuguese footballer, and the possibility of its signing may be realized in January of this year.
Bernardo Silva has been playing for Manchester City since the summer of 2017. Since then, he has made 410 appearances in all competitions, scoring 72 goals and providing 73 assists for his teammates. With these figures, he became one of the most important and versatile players under Guardiola.
The player's current contract with City runs until the summer of 2026. At the same time, according to the assessment given on the "Transfermarkt" portal, Silva's market value is set at around 38 million euros.
