The German national basketball team, which won the 2023 World Cup title, has now also won the European Championship. This victory allowed the Germans to become European champions for the second time in history.
In the final of the European Championship held in Riga on Sunday, September 14th, the German national team faced opponents from Turkey. The match, which was very tense and uncompromising, ended 88-83 in favor of the Germans.
We remind you that two years ago, Germany also achieved a great victory at the World Championship in Manila. Now they have won the continental competition and are among the strongest basketball teams in the world.
The Germans first won the European Championship in 1993. The team, which had faced various difficulties over the past thirty years, rose to the top again.
Following the victory, NBA star Franz Wagner said:
- Germany is the world and European champion in basketball. We are in our rightful place. There are still a few very strong players at home.
The most important points that decided the fate of the final were scored by the captain of the German national team, Dennis Schröder. His performance secured a convincing victory for the team, and as a result, he was named the MVP of the match.
Thus, the German national basketball team opened another bright page in its history and achieved an absolute victory in Europe.
