The 28-year-old footballer emphasized that winning this award is not a dream, but a truly remarkable event. Dembélé wrote on his social media page: "What I'm going through now is unbelievable. I couldn't speak. Last year at PSG was a milestone for me; a lot has happened in my career. The fact that football legend Ronaldinho presented me with this award is a special case. I am proud of what I have achieved."
According to him, by thanking PSG, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and the entire club, he emphasized that this award was a success not only for him but also for the team. "I also want to thank my teammates; we won almost all the trophies. You supported me. We have won almost all the trophies, and this individual achievement is a reward for the team," the footballer said.
He also expressed his gratitude to all his clubs during the crucial stages of his football career. According to him, Borussia Dortmund, his beloved club Rennes, also holds a special place. His experience at Barcelona also holds a special place, where he learned a lot from outstanding players like Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta.
Winning the Ballon d'Or wasn't my main goal in my career, but it's a wonderful thing. I worked to win the Champions League, Ligue 1, and the French Cup, and being awarded an individual trophy is a special feeling," Dembélé added.
He also thanked his national team teammates and coach Didier Deschamps. "Now we hope to win the World Cup in his last year," he said.
"I also thank my hometown, Evre, where I grew up and played football for the first time. When I have free time, I try to return there; the people there are always with me," the footballer added.
"I express my gratitude to my family who have always supported me and to my agent who trusted me. He told me that one day I would win the Ballon d'Or. Thank you to my mother and my best friend who were always by my side," said the 28-year-old footballer.
