Former legendary Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney commented on the suspension of Hugo Ekitique, who plays for Liverpool, in the match against Southampton.
As a reminder, the French forward received the first yellow card in the 53rd minute. However, in the 85th minute, he celebrated the winning goal by removing his jersey, receiving a second yellow card and being sent off.
Reacting to this situation, Rooney said:
"After the goal, he couldn't control his emotions. Perhaps he himself regretted this action. But it's hard to justify it; it was certainly a foolish decision.
In recent years, any goal is checked via VAR and then celebrated. But seeing such natural emotions on the field again was a joy for the fans," said Rooney.
