After the Super League matchday 22 game between “Navbahor” and “Qizilqum” (1:0), the new coach of Namangan club, Sherzod Jo‘rayev, shared his thoughts at a press conference.
According to the experienced coach, he had only been in charge of the team for two days and during this short time he held conversations with the players, listened to their concerns, and learned about their mood and internal state. “I knew what they were capable of, but I had not closely become acquainted with them. That’s why I talked with them and provided psychological support. The guys gave their all on the field. That’s why we won. I especially thank the fans,” said Jo‘rayev.
He stated that “Qizilqum” is a strong team with individually good players, and it was not easy to fight against them. “Football consists of two halves. The first half was difficult for us, but in the second half opportunities started to increase. Luck always favors the stronger team and smiles on them,” emphasized the coach.
In response to why he didn’t play with two strikers, he said: “We don’t have two strikers who operate in the same style. If we had, I would have tried this tactic. This is my first experience in the Super League, and we will gradually fully realize our potential,” he replied.
Sherzod Jo‘rayev also explained why some players did not appear in the lineup. “Zabihillo and Umid Ergashev have minor injuries. Sezar and Gedesh were not included in the squad by my decision. Because we deemed it appropriate to give opportunities to the youth. If they show themselves in training, of course, they will also be given a chance on the field,” he said.
Jo‘rayev also expressed his views about “Navbahor”’s U-21 team, emphasizing that talented young players always emerge in Namangan and he intends to gradually involve them in the main squad.
“I am from Namangan, so I did not hesitate to take the team even in a difficult situation. If I were afraid, I would not be here. I played for ‘Navbahor’ and this day was definitely going to come,” said the coach.
Thus, Sherzod Jo‘rayev restored the team spirit in a short time, pleased the fans and started his debut with a victory.
