The famous “Inter Miami” club in the United States has been actively negotiating in recent months about renewing the expiring contract with the team star and global football icon Lionel Messi. Finally, after weeks of discussions between the club and the player, both sides have reached a full agreement on all matters.
According to renowned journalists Nicolo Schira and Xavi Campos, the new deal will last until December 31, 2028. At the same time, the agreement has a distinctive feature — Messi has the unilateral right to terminate the contract at the end of 2026. Likewise, the “Inter Miami” club will have the option to end the cooperation in December 2027.
The new contract is expected to be officially announced soon at a special ceremony. This is considered a major event not only for the club but also for the history of American football.
As known, Lionel Messi has been representing “Inter Miami” since the summer of 2023. Though nearly two years have passed, the Argentine star has already set records at the club — playing in 69 official matches, scoring a total of 58 goals, and providing 28 assists.
With his skills, Messi has boosted the prestige not only of the team but of the entire MLS championship, attracting hundreds of thousands of fans from various countries to the matches. In the coming years, by renewing his contract, the star player is expected to further strengthen his reputation in American football.
Thus, the cooperation between “Inter Miami” and Messi has been extended by at least three more years. It is believed this will bring significant sporting and marketing achievements to the team.
